Ballona Wetlands Habitat Restoration Work Party

The Ballona Wetlands in Playa del Rey are one of LA's last remaining wetland ecosystems and a critical stopover for Pacific Flyway migratory birds. Weekend volunteer sessions involve removing invasive ice plant and pampas grass, planting native coastal species, and installing erosion control. A powerful reminder of what LA's coast looked like before development — and what it can become again.
